After earning his Ph.D. from Stanford University with NASA support, he developed high-power lasers for satellite-based remote sensing of wind velocities and ozone concentrations, addressing key challenges in lasers and non-linear optics. At Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, he designed high-power fiber lasers for defense applications, leading a project that won the 2013 R&D 100 Magazine Award. Beginning in 2014, he led a GE engineering team that developed a real-time, multi-species gas sensor for power plants, earning the GE Global Research-Bangalore Technology of the Year Award in 2015.
